NASCAR Partners With AWS To Migrate Historical Data To The Cloud

05 Jun NASCAR Partners With AWS To Migrate Historical Data To The Cloud

NASCAR recently entered into an agreement with Amazon Web Services to move their historical video content to the cloud. This will be a multi-year agreement to have AWS automate indexing and tagging of digital content. Machine learning and artificial intelligence will automate this task that would normally take thousands of man hours to complete manually.

With over 70 years of NASCAR video content, they are now finding it necessary to migrate to the cloud with the help of AWS. The video archive contains about 500,000 hours of content that needs to be transferred. AWS will use Amazon Rekognition to examine and tag people and objects in the videos. Additionally, AWS will use their transcription technology to transcribe interviews and broadcasts of races.

A new video series on NASCAR.com called This Moment in NASCAR History powered by AWS will air once the process nears completion.

Overall, the process could take about 12 to 18 months to complete and they have already started.
